Publication Ethics & Malpractice Statement

Ethical Commitment

Nova Journal of Computer Science and Intelligent Systems (NJCSIS) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. This statement outlines the ethical behavior expected of all parties involved in the publication process: Authors, Editors, Peer Reviewers, and the Publisher (PT RYE Edukasi Kreativa Publikasi). NJCSIS strictly follows the guidelines and Code of Conduct established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Responsibilities of Core Parties

Ethical responsibilities required from all stakeholders involved in the manuscript processing lifecycle:

1. Duties of Authors

• Originality & Plagiarism: Authors must ensure their work is entirely original. Plagiarism, data fabrication, and falsification are strictly unacceptable.
• Multiple/Concurrent Submission: Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical behavior.
• Authorship & Contribution: Authorship must be limited to those who made significant contributions to the study's design, execution, or analysis.
• Data Access: Authors may be asked to provide raw dataset files for editorial review and must retain access for a reasonable time post-publication.

2. Duties of Editors

• Fair Play & Impartiality: Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on intellectual content without regard to race, gender, citizenship, or political philosophy.
• Confidentiality: Editors must not disclose manuscript details to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and publisher.
• Editorial Decisions: Editors are responsible for deciding which articles to publish based on peer-review reports and scientific merit.
• Conflict of Interest: Editors must recuse themselves from managing manuscripts in which they have competing interests.

3. Duties of Reviewers

• Contribution to Editorial Decisions: Peer review assists editors in decision-making and helps authors improve their papers.
• Promptness: Any selected referee who feels unqualified or unable to provide a timely review must notify the editor promptly.
• Confidentiality: Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents.
• Objectivity & Standards: Reviews should be conducted objectively with clear supporting arguments and no personal criticism.

4. Plagiarism Policy & AI-Generated Content Statement

NJCSIS maintains zero tolerance for academic misconduct. All manuscripts undergo mandatory automated screening prior to review.

Key Policy Highlights:
  • Similarity Index Threshold: Submissions must have an overall Turnitin similarity score of less than 20% (with no single source exceeding 3%).
  • AI Tools Usage (ChatGPT/LLMs): Generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors. If AI tools are used for language editing or coding support, authors must explicitly state their usage in the Methodology or Acknowledgments section.
  • Allegations of Misconduct: In cases of suspected misconduct (plagiarism, citation manipulation, data fabrication), the journal will follow COPE flowcharts to investigate, which may lead to manuscript rejection or formal post-publication retraction.

5. Corrections & Retractions

If significant errors or ethical violations are identified post-publication, the journal will issue Corrigenda, Errata, or formal Notices of Retraction in accordance with COPE Retraction Guidelines.

6. Publisher's Role

PT RYE Edukasi Kreativa Publikasi guarantees the long-term preservation of published content, protects editorial independence, and works with editors to investigate any ethical concerns.
